Oak Park police: Armed robber points gun at man, takes keys, phone, laptop, wallet
A 14-year-old male from Chicago is being held in the Cook County Juvenile Detention Center on charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated battery and aggravated possession of a stolen motor vehicle in connection with an Aug. 28 incident that took place in the 1000 block of South Lyman Avenue, police said. According to Oak Park police, the youth was one of two juveniles who forced a victim – a female senior citizen – to the ground in the rear of her home, took her purse and fled the scene in an SUV, Oak Park Police Commander Paul Kane said. The auto, reported stolen out of Chicago, was recovered shortly after the incident in the 1300 block of Gunderson Avenue in Berwyn, with the victim’s purse still inside. At 10:12 p.m. that evening, the pair was seen by Oak Park police in the 7000 block of West Roosevelt Road, and after a foot chase, one was taken into custody in the 6700 block of Roosevelt and found with the victim’s ID, credit cards and key fob from the stolen vehicle. The other suspect is still at large, Kane said. The victim’s arm and ankle were injured in the attack, said Kane, who added she was treated at the scene.
