I’m Your Man review — can love with a machine be both possible and desirable? | Times2

A witty screenplay and another fabulously broad performance from Dan Stevens (after his Russian crooner in Eurovision Song Contest) are reasons to see this German-language comedy about a workaholic singleton called Alma (Maren Eggert) and her new robot boyfriend, Thomas (Stevens). Yes, Downton Abbey star Stevens is fluent in German and delivers his lines with rapid-fire intensity as the punctilious android (think C-3PO crossed with a Stasi officer), whose mission is to convince the sceptical Alma (she is “testing out” Tom as part of an ethical investigation into robot relationships) that love with a machine is not just possible, but desirable.
