“I wish I closed his laptop” Dedicated Teacher Continues To Work Until A Day Before He Passes Away
Most of us would not be where we are right now without our teachers. Be it big or small, they have impacted our lives.
Sandra A. Venegas took to Facebook to share a post on her father, Alejandro Navarro who is a dedicated teacher even up until the very end.
On 18 December, she wrote,
“This is my dad Alejandro Navarro, the day before he passed away, worried about finalizing grades for progress reports. He knew he was going to the ER so he packed his laptop and charger so he could enter them.”
Describing the scene, Sandra said that doctors were coming in and out of the room to run tests and to ask him important questions such as what he would want them to do if his heart stopped. He answered the questions and went back to doing the grades immediately.
Sandra said that the last time she saw her father was on 14 December when she was at his place.
“He spent the two hours I was at his house working. I wish I would have closed his laptop and enjoyed spending time with him.”
Speaking on that, Sandra says that people do not realise the extra hours a teacher put in. No matter the situation, whether a pandemic or a health crisis, all teachers care about is completing their duties.
She then called out to people whose loved ones are teachers: “If you are married to one, help them set boundaries. If you are the daughter/son of one, don’t let them work once they’re home.”
“Thank your teachers and be kind to them.”
To the teachers, Sandra says, “Teachers let’s not normalize working after hours, let’s not normalize staying at work late.”
“You are replaceable at work. You are NOT replaceable at home.”
And to her father, Sandra says,
“Dad, you will be greatly missed! I love you!”
Sandra would also like to clarify that her father did not pass on due to Covid or anything Covid-related.
Thoughts and prayers go out to Sandra and her family. The loss of a loved one is definitely not easy to deal with but we wish for nothing but the best for them.
