Facebook offers users an easy way to delete photos and videos using either the website or mobile apps. In fact, users can delete either individual images or entire albums in one go. In addition, if someone wants to keep a local copy of their photos, they have the option to download them first before going ahead with the deletion.

Deleting old photos can be helpful when covering up a bit of youthful indiscretion or preventing potential employers from stumbling onto embarrassing pictures from the past. The process is pretty much the same on Android, iOS and the web. However, once the photos are deleted, there’s no way to recover them, so it’s essential to take utmost care before deleting any media from the platform.

To delete photos on Facebook, log in to the website and click on the profile name/avatar at the top-right corner on the homepage. On the profile page, select the ‘Photos’ tab just below the profile avatar. Now click on ‘Your Photos,’ which will open the page where all the uploaded photos are displayed. Find the photo to delete and then hit the pencil icon at the top-right corner of that thumbnail. On the drop-down menu, select ‘Delete’ and then confirm that on the next pop-up. Do note that deleting the photo will also delete the post. To delete an entire album, click on the ‘Album’ tab instead of ‘Your Photos’ on the ‘Photos’ page. Then find the album to delete and click on the three-dot menu button at the top-right corner of that thumbnail. Finally, select ‘Delete album’ and confirm the selection to remove that album from Facebook.

Photos Can Also Be Deleted Using The App

To delete photos using the Facebook mobile app, tap on the profile avatar at the top-left corner, just below the ‘Home’ button. Now scroll down a little and hit the ‘Photos’ tab to see all uploaded photos. On the next screen, tap on the ‘Uploads’ tab at the top and then select the photo that needs to be deleted. Once the target image is displayed in full-screen, tap on the three-dot menu button at the top-right corner and select ‘Delete photo.’ Confirm the selection to delete that image.

To delete entire albums using the Facebook app, navigate to the ‘Albums’ tab instead of ‘Uploads’ and then select the album that needs to be deleted. Once on the album’s main page, tap on the three-dot menu button in the top-right corner. A slide-out menu will appear, select the ‘Delete’ option and confirm when asked. The entire album will be deleted, including every image in it.
