Asus TUF Dash F15 review: Efficient and compact gaming laptop with few limitations
One of the outcomes of the current COVID-19 situation and our inability to move around is the increased screen time be it for work, streaming content or, gaming. In either case, you need an able machine that can deliver, when needed. Asus’ TUF series has been popular among gamers for two series the performance it guarantees and the price it comes at. It has been one of the more affordable gaming machines in the Indian market. However, that changed with the TUF Dash F15 which breaks the Rs 1-lakh mark.
Aimed at both gamers and content creators, the Asus TUF Dash 15 is priced at Rs 1,40,990 in India. The design and hardware appeals more to the gamers but, the specifications should serve most users. I have been using the TUF Dash 15 for more than two weeks now, and here is my full review.

Asus TUF Dash 15 review: Design
There is no doubt that the Asus TUF Dash 15 is a beautiful-looking machine and the white colour variant is definitely the one to go for here. Yes, it can be difficult to maintain but, looks gorgeous. There is a large TUF typography at the edge of the lid, TUF logo on one edge and three LED indicators that are visible all the time because of a cut-out in the hinge.
The flap and base are quite sturdy. Overall, Asus has managed to keep the body slim which helps TUF Dash 15 stand out from other gaming laptops. The dimensions here are 360 x 252 x 19.9mm, which are compact. The machine still weighs around 2 kgs, which clearly isn’t the lightest, but I will take it for a gaming laptop.
Asus has put an air vent almost everywhere it got a chance to. You get two on the sides, one on top of the keyboard and another behind the screen.
The base is wide and offers a lot of space to gamers. There is good spacing between the keys and around the trackpad which allows you to move and work freely. The keys are big, have a single backlight that comes in three brightness levels and a dedicated section for four hotkeys that include volume up and down buttons, a mute button and a button to directly access the Armoury crate.
The WASD key are transparent. They differentiate themselves from rest of the keyboard, and look stunning once the backlight goes on.
The keyboard feels great to type on. The trackpad is also responsive and smooth. The arrow navigation buttons are slightly narrow and can be annoying. I kept hitting the wrong one. The other problem is the white colour. I know I said it is the one to go for but, only if your prefer to stay organised. The challenge here is to keep the keys clean. They tend to catch dust and other marks very quickly. So, you will spend a lot of time cleaning the keyboard.
The overall aesthetics, design and build quality should appeal to gamers, content creators as well as normal users. The only turn off for the latter could be the big size which reduces the portability. Most gamers don’t usually move their set up around and can still live with a bigger body.
Asus TUF Dash 15: Display
The display was one of the most impressive parts about this laptop for me. The Asus TUF Dash 15 features a big 15.6-inch IPS display with 240Hz refresh rate and 3ms response times. It has really thin bezels on the sides with a large chin that flaunts Asus branding. To keep the bezels thin, Asus has sadly compromised on the webcam. And, that’s just sad for the times.
The current Work from Home practice has made webcam a necessity for most people and even gamers need it for streaming.
This surely has to be one of the smoothest displays I have used on a laptop. The high-quality content just looks stunning on screen. I watched a lot of videos on the TUF Dash 15. The screen size, colours and sharpness were all up to the mark. Asus also claims a 100% sRGB support but, it’s tough to confirm that.
The screen size seems more than enough for gamers and casual viewing but, might not be for content creators. Video editing can be challenging at times, especially when you need to chop out the rough edges.
Asus TUF Dash 15 review: Performance
The combination of RTX 3070, 240Hz IPS display and Tiger Lake H-series processor delivers a great performance which will be appreciated by entry-level gamers. I threw a few games at the laptop, and it handled most with ease. I will give a quick disclaimer that I am more of a console gamer and guilt of being easily impressed by most laptops. I think that’s one of the qualities of TUF Dash 15. It will impress casual gamers with the performance but, hardcore gamers might be left wanting for more.
Most games are not able to make use of the 240Hz display on TUF Dash 15. I would advise them to spend a little more and get a better system. The limitation was exposed during video editing. The laptop held the fort for a very long time, but it heated up while rendering heavy video files.
Audio is another problem. What is it? The speakers are just not loud enough. It’s surprising that the volume levels are even lower than a normal laptop. The simple YouTube videos are not clearly audible, and it’s very difficult to pick in-game audio. This shouldn’t have been an issue on a laptop designed for gaming.
For anyone who is looking for gaming + work machine, the Asus TUF Dash 15 is worth every single penny. It handles multitasking, basic gaming and streaming seamlessly. Again, the webcam restricts the usability but, the laptop ticks most boxes.
You get a number of connectivity options which is always welcomed. The laptop features three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A slots, an HDMI 2.0 port, a 3.5mm headphone port, a RJ45 port and a Kensington lock. There is also a USB-C Thunderbolt 4 port that supports USB 4.0, Power Delivery 3.0 for charging as well as Display port 1.4a.
Asus TUF Dash 15 review: Battery
Let’s be honest, battery is never the strength of gaming laptops, even though manufacturers have tried everything to extend it. The heavy gaming titles tend to drain the system quickly and that’s also the case with TUF Dash 15. Yet, the 76Whrs battery can give you about 10 hours of battery life. The charging brick is compact for a gaming laptop and charges the phone from 0 to 100 per cent in about two hours.
Asus TUF Dash 15 review: Final Verdict
I will give you three reasons to buy the TUF Dash F15 gorgeous design, reliable performance and good battery life. I will give you three not to gaming has limitations, poor audio and lack of a webcam. Now, the decision is yours to make.
Any entry level gamer would be happy with TUF Dash 15. So will be users looking to do a mix of gaming, streaming and work. They will find worth in this Rs 1,4 lakh machine. The professional gamers or content creators, however, should definitely check out other options.
