Android 12 beta becomes the most downloaded beta version in Android history
Google released the first Beta version of Android 12 last month and recently released the Beta2 version. Dave Burke, vice president of Android projects, revealed that the beta version of Android 12 had become the most downloaded/installed test version in Android history.
The Android 12 public beta is currently available for Google Pixel 3 and above smartphones. The update is also available for brands such as OnePlus, Lenovo, Asus, Oppo, Realme, Sharp, Tecno, TCL, Vivo, and Xiaomi.
Talking about the features, Android 12 offers a plethora of changes brought in UI and functionalities. One includes the theme, which includes the apps switching animations, lock screen, widgets, etc., all adapting according to the OS theme.
Google is also adjusting other aspects of the Android experience, such as notifications and quick settings. Some improvements have also been made to privacy and security. The app will have indicators when using the phone’s camera or microphone, and it’s easier to access the various permissions of all apps on one dashboard.
In the gaming aspect, Android 12 will come with its own “Game Mode”. Users can activate the “Game Mode” in the Android 12 settings interface. First, you need to enter the “Notification” menu and go to the Do Not Disturb interface. From there, click on Schedules. There, you will see the option of activating the “Game Mode”. After activating it, you will see the new features that come with the game mode. It can display the FPS frame rate, screen recording, screenshots, and live game screens.
Android 12 has added an all-new “Safety & emergency” section to the settings menu, which gives you quick access to your most vital details and links directly to Pixel’s Personal Safety app.
This new menu makes space for all your personal information, including medical history, blood type, and more. You can also add emergency contacts to the list to be reached in the event of any catastrophe.
One of the biggest changes in Android 12 involves a visual overhaul to the core Android interface. Android 12 adopts the Google Material design aesthetic, and Android 12 Beta 2 enhances the look with ‘Material You’ themes that change the colour of your phone’s interface, notifications, and other elements to match your wallpaper.
Another new feature on Android 12 will be the Car Key feature. Since last year, iPhones can now act as a car key for compatible smart cars. The Android 12 will also include this feature to turn the Android smartphone into a car key. However, it appears that this feature will be first available for only Pixel and Samsung Galaxy devices.
